world.gif (15104 bytes)
Main Page Infomation for Stroud packet node   new 29 Meg node

 This has now closed

The 2m port is user access only on 144.950 MHZ

The 70cm port runs full-duplex (tx 430.625 rx 439.975) to GB7FD in the Forest of Dean and then on into the packet network, the node is well used for access to gb7dxc dxcluster and gb7glo/gb7mad bbs's.

The node has been running with THENET X1J version software for about 10 years. Steve G3ILO can do most of the house-keeping of the node (ie parameters etc) remotely, more info from Steve or gb7dxc/gb7glo.

The node is well situated for most of Stroud and the surrounding area

The Equipment A 2mtr radio is a modified Pye T30(less P.A. stage) /R17 70cms uses Pye T414/R414.
Tnc's are much modified TNC2DL's,with DCD mods, (to run with squelch open)

A major improvement in reliability came from a design mod to the power-up reset by Ray G4GWZ (the mains supply at the site isn't good!)

Aerials, a colinear for 2mtrs and a little beam for 70cms.

With thanks to G1XAL for the gardening..5 foot stinging nettles bite! Thanks Tony.

We owe a big debt to the farmer, who has let us have this site rent-free since we started all those years ago, without his help we could not survive.

We sub-meter the electricity, which is our main running cost, about 70 pounds P.A.

Steve G3ILO, Tony G1XAL and Clive G6SQT provide and mantain the equipment, which has worked well.

We are not averse to the occasional donation towards the electricity bill!!

Any donations to Steve G3ILO, Clive G6SQT or Tony G1XAL thanks.
