Note of assembly of Mininch
Mininch is a sailplane intended for the flight of slope and speed category 60 inches. It is thus necessary at the time construction to bring it a care very particular to the controls so that they are without play. There is also a lighter hand-launch wing available with a profile SD 4083 has 6.5% Its small gauge makes it very handy without conceding the performance. The control surfaces will have thus to be produced semi-tight as indicated in this note. To be able to exploit all the conditions it is recomended to have ballast capability. One thus should not neglect this stage of construction. The recommended radio installation takes account of this constraint we to you advise it. If nevertheless you must make a personal installation take into account the ballasting of input not to be limited thereafter. If you follow exactly this note you will be able, if you wish it, to thereafter acquire a wing of launch-hand in SD4083 which will adapt then perfectly to your radio installation, which makes it possible to have 2 complementary sailplanes with only one fuselage and thus only one play of servos and receiver. The painting is of an acrylic type which does not like solvents. It is necessary to avoid alcohol and other white spirit. Best it is the soapy water. For the Scotch tape traces " the gasoline F " is a cleaning good.

The kit makes it possible to choose between various options of radio installation, according to your criteria:
Version 2 axes: Ailerons - elevator.

This version makes it possible to only have fun in flight of slope with 2 microcomputer-servos, and does not require a programmable radio. It is powerful of speed, but the exploitation of thermics is more difficult for lack of rudder. It even possible, though is disadvised, to install 2 servos standard.

Version 3 axes: Elevator - Rudder - Ailerons.

This version will be more powerful in exploitation of thermics thanks to the rudder. It allows also a more interesting stunt-flying. With a standard type cross tail stab it does not require a programmable radio. If you on the other hand lay out of a programmable radio we let us advise you the more powerful stab out of V-tail. 3 microcomputer-servos are obligatory to be able to be placed in the fuselage.

Version 4 axes: Elevator - Ruddert - Ailerons - Flaps.

Mininch was especially conceived for the 4 axes. I.e. that its flaps (2 ailerons which bends down at the same time) are very effective. This version also makes it possible to benefit from air-brakes (2 ailerons which rises at the same time) very effective. It claims 4 microcomputer-servos or 4 submicro-servos and a programmable radio, but gives the greatest versatility and performance in flight. It is with this version and a mixing depth towards flaps (snap flap) that one will obtain the best performances in race with the pylons.

The duration of construction is approximately 6 to 10 hours.

2. Construction of the Wing
2.1 Cut out ailerons
The ailerons make 4.8 cm (30% of the cord) on the level of the dihedron and 3.6 cm with salmon. The ailerons make all the scale and stop to 8.0 cm of salmon.

To start by sawing with the hacksaw the ends of the ailerons. If the angle is respected, given in the figure below, during sawing one can use this cutting like locates to place the metal reglet. Attention, finally, cutting bottom-surface must be about 2-3 mm foward cutting suction face. the cutting of the ailerons is done with the cutter along a metal straight edge. It is necessary to make several light passages by taking guard not to slip with the knife. One can scotch tape the straight edge on the wing to be on which it does not slip.

2.2 Installation of the control horns.
The installation of the control horns is done classically. We recommend ball links for an easy assembly on the ground and any running clearance. It is necessary to insert and stick a small hardwood hard-point in the aileron in which will be screwed and stuck the control horns. For the ailerons it is necessary to envisage a 6 mm top puppet, the covers has balls vissables trade are appropriate perfectly

2.3 Clamp holes
The wing is attached to the fuselage by 2 screws Nylon of 4 mm X 20 Misters the central panel is reinforced at the places planned for the screws, it is thus enough to bore vertically 2 holes with a diameter 4 mm to 1.0 cm and 9.0 cm of the leading edge. For that the medium is marked in the mould. One can then précautionneusement bore the suction face with a drill 8 mm in diameter on 3 mm of depth to receive the head of screw. Attention, I advise to do it with the hand because a drilling machine is often too violent. It is also necessary to stick a hold of ctp of 15/10 mm under the wing to the level of the back screw so that the aerodynamic chock is correct. This hold is required to have a fuselage compatible with the version launch-hand.

If you had already Minij and that you just bought a wing from speed to be adapted above, check well before making the clamp holes in the wing that the lengths of rods of ailerons correspond and that commands with the neutrals the ailerons are well with the neutral. With the need to shift a little the clamp holes in the wing.
In the case of the option wing in 2 parts, a simple method of fixing is to file 2 half holes on each wing root on same the level as the holes of the version into 1 piece c.à.d. to 1.0 and 9.0 cm of the leading edge. For the assembly on the ground, it will then be necessary to assemble the 2 half-wings with the keys, to lock them with Scotch tape of electrician, and to screw the 2 screws Nylon provided with discs of external diameter çm.

3. The stab

3.1 Sandpapering of the stab. For the stab there are 2 options, out of V or cross. In both cases it is necessary to sandpaper the leading edge into round and the shutters in skew to refine the trailing edge. To also sandpaper the fixed part and the shutter of an angle of 30° to allow clearance downwards.

3.2 Assembly of the stab. For the version stab in cross to stick to Cyano the drift well perpendicularly on the stab and to add a triangular reinforcement of 5x5mm of each with dimensions. For the version out of V, it is necessary to make small platinizes in CTP 10/10, and a triangular reinforcement. It is also necessary to sandpaper the root of the stab so that they adapt correctly to the turntable. The aperture is approximately 100 to 110 °. the whole being stuck to Cyano before entoilage.

3.3 Installation of the elevator horns.
The elevator horns are made from piano wires of 2mm of diameter.

It is initially necessary to cut 2 pieces of 4 cm length CAPE, to bend an end with 1 cm with 55° (approximately!). On the bent ends, it is necessary to fix in force and to weld a ball link ball. To fold the other then the end with right angle so that it is inserted in the elevator from approximately 1 cm. Use 5 minute epoxy to bond the control horn to the elevator and tape in place.

3.4 Entoilage
To finish the stabs by cloth-lining them in Solar or preferably in Oracover. With Oracover one can use it to make the hinges. If not to separately cloth-line the fixed plans and the shutters and to use a Scotch tape of hinge.

4. Fuselage
4.1 Fixing of the wing

It is necessary to prepare 2 small rectangles out of hard wooden of 20mm X 20mm X 3mm in which one bores a hole and one sticks a t-nut of M4 in the center. One can also tap 2 small aluminum plates of 20/10.

Then it is necessary to bore 2 holes diameter 4mm in the fuselage on the level of sat wing. For that to carefully position the wing by fixing the distance leading edge - joint of warhead at 2.2 cm and to make the crucifixion by checking the equity of the distances salmon-tail and the distances salmon-nose. To mark the fuselage through the clamp holes, to remove the wing and to bore.

One will stick the wood rectangles to epoxy by maintaining them in place by a screw Nylon of 4. If required to wax the screws.

4. Fuselage

4.1 Fixing of the wing
It is necessary to prepare 2 small rectangles out of hard wooden of 20mm X 20mm X 3mm in which one bores a hole and one sticks a nut to claw of M4 in the center.

If required to wax the screws so that they do not hang.

4.2 Fixing of the stab
The stab is stuck on the punt part of the tail of the fuselage. To check well the perpendicularity of the stabs and the fuselage for top. One can stick it to the epoxy rapid, Cyano or the double face of very good quality. If it is wished one can also fix it not a screw Nylon of 3mm with a counter-nut in the fuselage.

4.3 Radio installation

The fuselage receives all the servos (2,3 or 4 according to the selected version), the receiver and an accumulator 4 elements of 300mAh. While placing the accumulator well in the nose one should arrive at a correct centering without lead addition. For the servos one can even find place for 2 servos standard but with minicomputers or microcomputers one will be able to carry more ballast. It is necessary to make a rectangular turntable vertical in CTP 15/10 of sufficient size to stick to it to the double face the 2,óu 4 servos with the tail leu leu. One can then ensure them while rolling up around the servos and of the turntable of the Scotch tape of electrician.

Here an example with 4 microcomputer-servo for the shutters and the stab:

For 3 or 2 servos the principle is the same one, except that it turntable can be shorter. In all the cases it is necessary to advance platinizes it to the maximum to facilitate centering.
The turntable is then slipped by the opening of the warhead into the fuselage and is screwed by 2 wood screws with head punt, directly by outside, on the right blank of the fuselage. One can then add 2 small hard wood squares on the level of screw the wood for best belonged to the turntable.

With this method of radio operator assembly, it is not necessary to perforate the base of the wing copiously what would weaken considerably the fuselage at this strategic place.

Then one needs percer/limer 2 holes on the end of the pylon for the passage of the rods of ordering of the ailerons.

It is also necessary to install a nipple of launching out of carbon of 4mm which must be located approximately 1 to 2 cm after the pylon for a good catch in hand. It is enough to stick it has the cyano or with the epoxy rapid. This nipple could be used as point of hangs Po

4.4 Rods of command
The rod of ailerons are simple threaded rods m2 which it is necessary to cut about to the good length by making a preliminary placement of the turntable outside the spindle. The fine adjustment will be made turntable installed by screwing - unscrewing of the covers.

The 2 rods of depth will be made out of carbon tube of 4mm of diameter with inserts of threaded rods with each end stuck to the epoxy rapid. For the length, the method is the same one as for the ailerons.

4.5 Tube with ballast
To increase its flight envelope, it is well of being able the ballaster Mininch. For that one will install a tube with ballast in the fuselage which can receive 300g. One will stick it on the left blank of the fuselage. Tubes PVC of diameter 15mm (electric sheaths) or better of the cane has glass fibre fishing are appropriate very well. It is necessary well on the medium is in the centre of gravity
A good solution is to take support on the locating spigot what gives a bo

5. Centering
Centering is to 70 mm of the leading edge. With an accumulator of 4x300mAh, it almost does not require lead. For the first flights one can advance the centering of 5mm i.e. to put 15g moreover in the nose.

6. Clearances and mixings

Positive clearances get along to the bottom and are measured with the root of the control surface in question the dynamic shutters correspond to a mode of piloting 4 axes, I.e. the shutters on the gas handle to which one removed the crantage and gave the return spring.

depth -7 / +8mm 20% of expo
drift -12 / +13mm
ailerons -11 / +9mm -17/+15mm (max for fun slope) 25% of expo
shutters -1/0/+5mm (inter 3 pos) -10/+10mm (piloting 4 axes)
mixing depth towards shutter -10/+13mm
air-brake -17mm (on inter or in end of race) compensation depth to be pulled up: 25% or -4mm

It is not to better put compensation shutter towards depth.

7. Flights
7.1 First flight the first flight will be done without ballast, all the control surfaces exactly with the neutral, centering with 65mm of the leading edge.
7.2 Following flights To move back centering with 70mm of the leading edge according to your impressions. It will be necessary to compensate for trimmer more and more stitcher, it is normal. Reasonable back limit being 75mm. To start to familiarize itself with the sailplane before ballaster.

7.3 Ballasting One can ballaster Mininch to fly by strong wind. The behavior of the sailplane changes then completely: the trajectories become tended and the ray of turn increases. Speed increases also considerably. Not to exceed 500g because the turns start has to be inserted. 7.4 Small Time If you wish to steal by small time it will obligatorily be necessary you to use the shutters into positive. If you wish to steal in launch-hand it is necessary you to take a wing of Minij in lighter SD4083 which is made for Ca. If you respected the dimensions of assembly strictly, this wing will adapt without problem on the fuselage.

7.5 Catapult-launching For catapult-launching one needs a hook located 2-3cm before the leading edge. A simple method is to fold a CAPE of 15/10 so that it comes to be caught around the nipple launching, with a hook with the other end. This end being scotché around the fuselage.
