I took the Radio Amateurs Exam in 1963 but did not send for my license until 1993, this is not a record. I had a packet connection it's the radio version of the Internet but very slow, only any good for text I have also spent some time at slow scan TV, I think it's more like radio fax. Pictures take from 30seconds to 180 seconds to send or receive.

Samples I have received from 20 metres short wave, converted by my computer sound card, the signals sound like whistles, each line is sent three times one for each colour. Ray G3GWZ did a lot of work on this before modern computers made it easy

This was from a station in Hungary to a French station This was from Switzerland to me, the streaks are interference, you get that with analogue signals my call sign is near the top
A picture sent to me from Italy the rsv stands for Receive quality, strength and vision quality This is me taken with an early digital camera at Stroud Radio club a few years ago, I put on a demo of slow scan TV, we were able to take pictures and send them out, there was a lot of interest in the new type of camera
